Tom still had some time from his 3 weeks of paid paternity leave to use up so he decided to take all last week off from work. Tom and I are such home-bodies, but instead of using the week to sit at home and stare at each other we decided to get our booties out the door and go have some fun. I did have to work on Monday though, but Tom was able to stay home with Reese. It was such a good feeling to leave her with him for the whole day. I always have a little anxiety the night before a day of work. Not because I don't trust the babysitter, but just because, well you just worry as a mother. He did a great job with her. The only funny thing was when he came to meet me for lunch, he had Reese's shirt on backwards (buttons on the front and all). It was cute.
One day we went to Estes Park and wandered around and ate lunch. This picture is in front of the Stanley Hotel. It's the hotel that Stephen King stayed in and got his inspiration for "The Shining." A couple years ago Tom had to stay there for a whole week and do an audit on them (that's probably the wrong accounting terminology, huh Tom?). I went up one of the nights and stayed with him. It is actually pretty spooky. The doors shake in the middle of the night and his room was right next to a dark open elevator shaft with no elevator. Reese and I in the entry of the hotel
Another day we went and ate lunch at the park and played on the playground with Reese. Tom was insistant that we also throw a frisby around. I think he wanted to do it because he was in the mood for a good laugh. I've always considered myself to be fairly athletic and coordinated, but I can't throw a frisby in the direction I'm intending to save my life.
She's already pretty adventurous.
The Denver Zoo is only about 20-25 minutes away. We weren't there for too long because Reese got tired really quickly so this is one of the only pictures we got that day. She really likes the carousel. She gets really wide-eyed with kind of a half smile. Don't you just wonder what goes on in little people's minds?
Saturday night we went out to a Japanese Steakhouse called the Hibachi Grill to celebrate our friend Kassiah's birthday. This is a picture of only half the group. The other group is on the other side of the table. All in all, it was such a good week. I'm really sad today that Tom is back at work. He really is such a fun person and I am SO glad to be married to him. We get to hang out again next week though when we go to Portland to visit Tom's brother Steve and his family.

How nice you could spend a whole week doing things close by! That is fun! Jon and I are home bodies too. Unless we are forced to do something, we usually prefer to sit on our hindquarters!
Just so you know...Kelsey is fascinated by your blog. We've spent the last 20 minutes going through the entire blog looking for ones that "turn on". she's loving the videos. She keeps saying, "Let's look for more of Reese". She thinks she's so cute. And she informed me that I need to try "boosha, boosha" on Blake tonight because he's supposed to laugh at it...
Marisa, that's hilarious! I love Kelsey! I hope Reese will be funny like her! By the way, we need to see more pictures and video of your little people.
That's so great that Tom took last week off! I love paternity leave! It's one of those things that keeps you sucked into public accounting. It looks like you did a ton of fun things. We are homebodies, too, and haven't really 'experienced' Denver. That hotel sounds creepy. I love when husbands are home. After Jakob has time off, I always try and come up with a way that we can survive but BOTH stay at home. Wouldn't that be the life?
