We've had a fun and busy weekend so far. Last night our next door neighbor Delta watched Reese while Tom and I went out with 3 other couples to the Olive Garden. One of our friends got a promotion so he decided to treat us all to dinner. I've never been one to turn down free food (that was the best part about dating back in the day). Afterwards we went back to one of the couple's homes to play games. I wish I would have had my camera with me to document our first time playing Poker. We weren't playing for anything, just for fun, but it was hysterical to see 8 Mormons playing Poker and only about 2 of them knowing what they were doing. I am very proud to say that I represented my home town of Vegas very well by winning the whole game. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing, but it was pretty fun. At one point as we were laying our cards down I even asked "Are 2 aces good?" I wasn't trying to be cute or funny, I really am just that clueless!

Then today I threw a baby shower for my friend Marissa. It's her second child so we just invited a small group (mostly people in our ward). She has one boy, but this baby is a girl so we wanted to get her some girly stuff. The shower turned out really well with lots of good girl/mom talk and good food and treats.

Shauna posing by the food table...yes that actually is her pose.
Marissa...the guest of honor. She only has 4 weeks to go.
The whole gang
Since we cleaned the house up spic and span for the shower I decided that today would be a good day to post pictures of it. My sister-in-law Amy wanted to see some pics so I guess I could have just sent them through email, but I always think it's fun to see where people live so I wanted to post them on here too.

Entry

This room is what Tom calls his office and what I call the "eye sore." I really wouldn't care if it was a room upstairs that nobody saw, but it's right off the entry to the house. He's always felt like it was his room so he really didn't want me messing with it, but I have finally convinced him to let me paint, reearange the furniture and DE-CLUTTER. We'll see how it turns out. This picture is actually on a
really good day. Tom just organized the bookshelf. There are usually books and papers strewn everywhere.

Family Room
This is one of my latest projects that I am actually quite proud of. My friend Kassiah is a really good scrap-booker so she helped me put these letters together. Unfortunately I am not naturally a creative arts and craftsy sort of person.
Kitchen

This is our loft. When Tom was a Scout leader this room was a big hit! In the next year or so I want to put the ping pong table up behind a curtain and turn it into a play room for Reese.

Reese's nursery is my favorite room of all. We did it all for pretty cheap too. A lot of things were either given to us or bought from craigslist. The bead-board was a nightmare to put up, but worth it in the end.

The guest room and our bedroom are nothing to see. They're basically rooms with beds in them and that's about it. Oprah would be very disappointed in me. She always says that your bedroom should be the very first room you decorate because that's your "sanctuary." I say, that's what rich people say.

good stuff. I had to open the letters big so I could see them well. Way cute! You did so good decorating your house. I still say, someday, when I have a real house, I'm going to hire you.
Your house looks so cute! We are very jealous as we are apartment bound for another few years while in school! Reese is darling. And yes, I knew what you meant about the nursing thing. It's better than it was with Tyson only because she goes longer between feedings than he did, but I hate it. Why can't we have the kids and the husbands feed them!! That would be fair!
I love your house Rachel! It looks very nice. Someday, someday I'll have a house....
Cute house, rach! Love your table :-). I totally understand the eye sore room. It's our bedroom... And just like your office, it's on the main level and people sitting in my family room can see around the corner into it if the door's not closed. Yep, I agree that rich people make their room their sanctuary. I'm just trying to make the rooms that people see semi-presentable, right?
Your house is so cute! I might steal some ideas from you. I'm a decorating loser! I love how big and open your house is! Too cute!
